Supporter Spotlight: Laura Patrick

Entrepreneurs supporting RMH BC

In our supporter spotlight, we are sharing more about the people who invest their time and energy to make the House feel like home for all of our families.

Today we meet Laura, a local entrepreneur and co-chair of RMH BC’s A Night to Dream Gala committee.

How did you first get involved with RMH BC? What initially attracted you to RMH BC?

As a female entrepreneur, I often attend networking events in the city to meet others who share in my passions. One night, I met Lindsey, who introduces me to a volunteer position on the A Night to Dream Gala Committee at Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon. She invited me to visit the House and encourages me to get involved as a volunteer. Through my career in kids physiotherapy, I was familiar with RMH BC, but I didn’t quite grasp how valuable the organization is in our community. After taking a tour, I wanted to do my part and support in any way that I could.

What motivates you to stay involved? What does your involvement with RMH BC mean to you?

I am motivated by the impact that RMH BC has on our community. Kids and families from all over the province need this House. They need a safe and comfortable place to be while their child or loved one is seeking treatment at BCCH. I continue to stay involved because of the families. Sadly, there is a never-ending need when kids get sick and I continue to do what I can to raise funds.

What is one memorable thing you would like to share about your experience with the House?

I loved the Vancouver Island Golf Tournament in Victoria in 2019! Seeing people from the many communities on the Island come together to hit the links and raise money for the House was a highlight of my summer. Hearing firsthand from one of the families staying at the House really brought home the impact of the funds that were raised.

Tell us a little more about you and what you do outside supporting RMH BC. What are you passionate about?

I am the founder and CEO of Kids Physio Group, a chain of private physiotherapy clinics in BC and Ontario that help kids of all ages recover from injury and meet their physical goals. I am very passionate about helping children and that has been the focus of my career! In addition, I love to bike, paddleboard and share a meal with friends and family.

What is your favourite place in BC or the Yukon and why?

BC is my home and I love all that our landscape has to offer. But my favorite spot to visit is Deep Cove for a paddle in my backyard (the ocean)!
