Our Volunteers
Volunteers are an essential piece of the House and support us in a number of ways including welcoming families, providing office support, hosting programs and meals, spearheading fundraising events and serving on our Board.

Surrey Family Room Volunteers
Surrey Family Room Volunteers
The Ronald McDonald Family Room is a must-have resource for families with a sick kid staying at Surrey Memorial Hospital. And our volunteers are what make it feel welcoming. A smile, a helping hand, plus some administrative support and housekeeping are all that’s needed to bring a little relief to a parent’s often stressful day.
Current Opportunities:
We currently need volunteers for regular 4-hour shifts:
Thursday 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Saturday 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Saturday 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Saturday 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Sunday 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM
More shifts may become available. Please reach out to us with your availability.
Volunteer assignments are contingent upon the successful completion of a police records (vulnerable sector) check.
Volunteer for an Event

Want to have a good time for a good cause? Get involved in one of our fundraising initiatives. Every year, we put on two summer golf tournaments and our A Night to Dream Gala. We also offer a limited number of other volunteer opportunities, including committees, administrative support roles or smaller community fundraising events.

Family Meal Program
Share the gift of a homemade meal with our families. Having a night off from cooking is a huge relief for the thousands of families who call Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon home each year. Bring together a group of your friends, colleagues or family to cook a healthy, delicious meal for our families.

Other group opportunities
Other group opportunities
It’s a lot of fun to help out around the House, especially as a team. That’s why we’re always happy to welcome corporate, student or community groups looking to have fun while making a positive impact on our guests. If you have a group of 20 or fewer, we offer two opportunities a month to volunteer.
Coordinating group volunteer projects have both operational and material costs for Ronald McDonald House BC. So we ask our group volunteers to join us in keeping this great program going by considering a donation (suggested amount $1,000). Donations are fully tax-deductible and are appreciated but not required to volunteer in the House.
