Meet the Querin Family

From Dawson Creek, BC

When twins Max and Sullivan were born prematurely, staying at Ronald McDonald House helped their family stay together by their side, and get stronger together. Hear in their own words what this support meant to them.

The support we've received here
has been absolutely incalculable. Thank you!”

The Querin family from Dawson’s Creek has called the House a home for over 125 nights this year. When their twin sons Max and Sullivan made a very early arrival at 26 weeks, they needed to be flown to Vancouver immediately for care.

A few years ago, their oldest son Finn was also born prematurely, and they had to stay at the hospital the entire time with him. The days were long, tiring, and they wished they had a place to go to relax and unwind. The Querins braced themselves for a similar experience again — then they discovered RMH BC.

They checked into the House expecting a bed and a roof over their heads but were amazed to find out that there was so much more: a gym, a playroom, massage therapy, an “iron chef” kitchen to cook in, and plenty of fresh veggies.

“We can’t even comprehend how much more difficult it would be if we didn’t have RMH BC,” said Dad, Conor. “We’ve made lots of connections with staff and families that have come and gone during our stay.”

He remembers, “When we left Dawson it was -40°C with snow on the ground — we never thought we would be here for almost 6 months. Staying at the House has really taken the edge off and kept us sane and healthy. There’s been delicious, fresh food we’ve got to enjoy during our time here. We’ll be leaving here stronger than when we came, with long-time friends, skills and hobbies like playing the drums and basketball (Finn’s new favourites!), recipes to try out at home, and now three amazing sons. Finn is so happy to be a big brother!”

The support we’ve received here has been absolutely incalculable. Thanks to all of the incredible RMH BC supporters for helping to make the House such a home for so many families like mine. We can’t thank you enough.”
