Help Adopt a Room in Memory of Brooke Malakoff

At Ronald McDonald House, we don’t just make friends – we become an extended family. We don’t just stay in a house – we live in a place we made home.

Brooke Malakoff was an incredible young woman who lived her life to the fullest, and we hope you will join us in supporting one of her favourite causes: Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon.

Together, we can remember and honour all that Brooke stood for during her valiant fight against childhood cancer. Through the power of collective giving, we want to Adopt a Room at RMH BC in Brooke’s memory and help other families like Brooke’s by providing them with a comfortable home away from home. In 2011, Brooke was diagnosed with an incredibly rare cancer – so rare that her doctors have not found anyone with the same diagnosis. She had surgery to remove her left lung, but a few months later the cancer returned. With her family, Brooke traveled from her home in Fernie to Vancouver for treatment at BC Children’s Hospital.

For several years, Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon became her home away from home during treatment, a place where she felt warmly welcomed into a community, and where she was an inspiration to everyone she met.

Brooke passed away on October 17, 2015 but she is still having an impact. In life, she was a passionate advocate for many foundations and organizations, and she took every opportunity to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer. Now, countless friends have taken up her favourite causes and are making the world a better place in her memory.
